Emergency support for kehillot, families, and youth across Israel
As the war with Iran unfolds, Masorti kehillot throughout Israel are responding as they always do in moments of crisis: with responsibility, resilience, and deep care for one another.
Across the country, members of our kehillot and graduates of our NOAM youth movement have been called to reserve duty. Kehillot are mobilizing to support their members, checking in on the elderly, and making sure that no one faces these difficult days alone.
But the war has also brought direct damage to our kehillot.
Kehillat Eshel Avraham in Be’er Sheva sustained physical damage following a nearby missile impact. Several members of the kehillah have been displaced after suffering partial or total loss of their homes.
Rabbi Mijael Even David described the moment:
“At the moment of impact, I was inside the synagogue together with several
children rehearsing for our Purim spiel. We had only seconds to respond to
the sirens and run to one of our shelters. The sound of the explosion, the
shaking structure, and the cries of frightened kids are not easily set aside.”
Even in the midst of these challenges, Masorti kehillot continue to care for one another, offering practical assistance, pastoral support, and spiritual leadership.
Supporting Our Youth: NOAM in a Time of War
Our NOAM youth movement continues to support teens across Israel during this difficult time.
Many NOAM graduates have been called up to serve in the reserves, while younger participants are coping with fear, uncertainty, and disrupted daily life. Through online programming, leadership support, and resilience-building initiatives, NOAM helps young people stay connected to community and Jewish life.
Your support helps ensure that Israel’s next generation of leaders remains strong.
Sustaining Pluralistic Jewish Life in Israel
Masorti kehillot represent a vibrant vision of Jewish life in Israel, rooted in tradition, committed to equality, and open to all.
In moments of crisis, these kehillot become even more essential: places where families pray together, where women and men lead side by side, and where communities come together to support one another.
Your support ensures that pluralistic Judaism continues to thrive in Israel, even during times of war.
